West Palm Beach:
Annika Sorenstam completed her 10th victory of the season at the ADT Championship on Sunday. A three-under par round of 69 gave her a two-shot victory over fellow Swede Lisalotte Neumann. Sorenstam is the first player to successfully defend the ADT title, and has now won the event four times. Early lead Sorenstam started the day just one stroke clear of Marisa Baena and Liselotte Neumann, but started to increase her lead early on. On the fifth hole her birdie curved and had just enough weight into the cup. Korea's Soo-Yun Kang managed to keep pace with the Swede. Her tee shot on the 11th hole landed next to the cup to set up an easy tap in for birdie. Decent attempt Lisalotte Neumann had similar success as Kang on the 11th, almost holing her tee shot. Paula Creamer, who struggled during the second and third rounds (with a 75 and 74 respectively) sank a long birdie on the 15th hole. She finished with a 71, and tied for sixth, six shots behind. Hee-Won Han was having a decent round until the 17th hole. Her tee shot came up short of the green, landing in the water. She double bogeyed the hole and bogeyed 18 to end up with a disappointing 73. Kang had a chance to draw level with Sorenstam on the 17th hole but her birdie attempt caught the lip and rolled past. Shot of the day Michele Redman had one of the shots of the day, her third, on the par four final hole. Her approach landed next to the cup to set up an easy tap-in to finish two shots off the lead - her best finish of the season. The 'make or break' putt for Sorenstam came on the 16th hole. She rolled in the slightly breaking, downhill birdie putt and tossed her putter in the air to celebrate. Needing a birdie to force a playoff, Neumann ran her putt from off the front of the green wide left. She missed the par putt short and finished with a 70. With Neumann's round finished, Sorenstam could afford to three putt. But she sank her second, a tap in par putt, to seal the victory. The Swede now has 66 career LPGA wins, 22 shy of Katie Whitworth's all-time victories record. The $215,000 prize money takes her season total to more than $2.5 million.
