Aamby Valley:
It was a tight battle all the way till the 16th hole, but South African Hendrik Buhrmann hung on to win the Aamby Valley Asian Masters with a tournament total of 11 under par. It was a dream come true for the 42 year old, an 11-year veteran on the Asian tour, for whom the victory was made even more special by the fact that he won in India. All eyes were on caddy-turned-golfer Ashok Kumar who led the Indian challenge. And he repaid his fans for the support they gave him with solid performances on the first two days. Unfortunately, after leading till the third day, a poor last round put paid to his title aspirations. The results of the tournament apart, the event itself generated a huge amount of enthusiasm, a response that Asian tour officials are confident will help the game spread its wings in India.Topics mentioned in this article
