South Hadley: While third round leader Jennifer Rosales whithered on Sunday, 41-year old Meg Mallon was masterful and won the US Women's Open by two shots over world number one Annika Sorenstam in South Hadley, Massachussetts. Mallon, a native of Massachussetts, is the third oldest winner of the prestigious major event. This is her second US Open victory. She had last won the tournament in 1991. Her final round 65 is the lowest fourth round ever in a US Open by the eventual champion.
