Norton:The event at the TPC of Boston in Norton, Massachusetts has a scheduled Monday finish because of the Labour Day holiday in America. Saturday's second round started as Tiger Woods had the lead at 8-under after he chipped in from off the green on the 15th hole for a birdie. Woods followed that with a 58-foot birdie putt on the 17th and finished the round at 9-under. Meanwhile, Vijay Singh made eight birdies and an eagle on Saturday. His approach on the seventh hole set up a birdie to get to 8-under par. Then his birdie on the 12th hole tied him for the lead with Tiger at 8-under par. Charles Howell's approach shot on the 13th hole set up birdie. But Howell didn't convert the short birdie putt and remained at 5 under par. John Daly moved to even par with a birdie on the 16th hole, and finished the round at 1-under par. Then later, Singh chipped in from 30 feet on the 16th hole to move to 11-under - and the outright lead by two strokes at the midway point of the tournament. Woods has held the number one ranking for a record 264 consecutive weeks, but Singh would take it over if he finishes higher than Woods or, if Woods finishes lower than a tie for seventh, Singh would come out of the weekend number one no matter what.
