Perth:
"I don't want 2007 to end, because it has been a great year for me golf-wise," Gulbis said Thursday on the eve of the three-day Ryder Cup-style event that has an International side led by Annika Sorenstam take on Team Asia.
Gulbis won the Evian Masters in France and then helped the United States win the Solheim Cup over Europe.
"Team golf is so much more relaxing, but there is so much more pressure at the same time," Gulbis said. "You are not only playing for yourself, but you are playing for your team."
The Lexus Cup at the par-72, 6,064-meter (6,634-yard) The Vines course comprises team match play - six alternate shot matches on Friday, six best-ball matches on Saturday and 12 singles matches on Sunday.
Se Ri Pak leads Team Asia, which won last year's event by a point. Lee Seon-hwa held off Julieta Granada 2 and 1 in rainy conditions to give Asia a 12 1/2 to 11 1/2 victory at Tanah Merah in Singapore.
The International team won the inaugural matches 16-8 in 2005 at Tenah Merah.
If the teams finish tied, captains Sorenstam and Pak will have a sudden-death playoff to determine the winner.
