Abbeville, France:
India suffered a reverse in the women's World Cup hockey qualifying tournament when they went down 0-1 to Ireland in a Pool A match here yesterday. The match-winner was scored in the 31st minute of the game. India, who had defeated Uruguay 2-0 in their opening encounter on Monday, put up a poor display today, especially in the first half, and failed to click as a team. They improved their performance in the second half and earned two penalty corners but could not capitalize. Ireland forced four penalty corners, two in each half, but failed to convert. India take on Uzbekistan in their next match on Saturday. (PTI)Topics mentioned in this article
