Defending champions Germany charged back with two late goals to beat Pakistan 3-2 on Saturday in the opening match of the prestigious Champions Trophy field hockey tournament being played in Cologne. Germany has captured the tournament a record eight times since its inception in 1978 and is again the favourites to win. India drew 3-3 with World Champions Holland. Prabhjot Singh gave India a 3-2 lead with just two minutes left for the hooter. However, Matthijs Brouwer scored a goal in the dying seconds to draw level.
