Jugraj Singh is back in action after a car accident laid him low in September 2003. He currently spends much of his time practicing the penalty corner hit, as he is nowhere near the kind of form he was before his accident. "When I started playing after my injury my body movements were rather slow. But I have recovered now," he said. Mental strength Jugraj needs to perform well for his team Chandigarh Dynamos in Tier II of the Premier Hockey League, if he is to be in contention for an India shirt. "It is very difficult to come back to the level of fitness that modern international hockey demands after such a long break," said Maratha Warriors captain Viren Rasquinha. "He is working very hard. If anyone can make it back, it is Jugraj because he is mentally so strong,'' Rasquinha added. Penalty corner When Jugraj Singh was a part of the Indian team, the success rate in penalty corner conversions was directly proportional to his form and performance in any given match. But his absence from the team had an unexpected positive fallout, with Len Aiyappa and Sandeep Singh emerging as drag-flick specialists. Meanwhile, Jugraj is hoping to watch and learn from the world's best exponent of penalty corner conversion, Sohail Abbas, while in Hyderabad. "We are very good friends. I have not been able to meet him so far in Hyderabad, but I will talk to him soon," Jugraj said. Jugraj regrets he is not playing in Tier I of the league alongside senior India players, but he hopes that will only be a matter of time.
