Japan women crush lowly Fiji 14-0 in Hockey World League opener

Player of the the match Shiho Sakai struck a hat-trick as Japan scored 8 goals in first half and 6 in the second.

New Delhi: Shiho Sakai struck thrice as Japan women's team trounced Fiji women 14-0 in the opening match of Hockey World League Round 2 at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, in New Delhi on Monday.

The Japanese team scored as many as eight goals in the first half with Sakai putting her side on board in the ninth minute via a penalty shoot.

Three minutes later, captain Rika Komazawa scored second goal of the team through a penalty corner.
