Asia Cup Hockey: Malaysia remember Chua Boon Huat in opener

Chua, who had more than 321 caps for Malaysia, had played in major competitions such as the World Cup, Olympics, Champions Trophy, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and the Asia Cup.

Ipoh, Malaysia: As a mark of respect to the departed soul of Malaysia's longest-serving hockey player, Chua Boon Huat, one-minute silence was observed before the start of the Asia Cup match between the home team and Chinese Taipei, here on Saturday.

Chua, as he was fondly called, died in a car crash on August 1 while the team was preparing for the ongoing Asia Cup.

The Malaysian Hockey Confederation had already rested the number three jersey, which Chua used to wear, for the Asia Cup in memory of the late defender.
