India's juniors have won the Junior Asia Cup title after a 5-2 win over Pakistan. The star for the Indians was Tushar Handhker who scored a hat trick while Sandeep Singh finished as the leading goal scorer in the tournament with 16 goals. Earlier, India by virtue of reaching the final had already qualified for the junior world cup next year, where they are the defending champions. The first meeting between India and Pakistan on Pakistani soil in almost 5 years got off to an ill tempered start with more skirmishes than goal scoring opportunities for either side. Handker shines India took the lead midway through the first half after a free hit got a lucky deflection towards Tushar Handker who took the ball on the full and got it into the back of the net. Sandeep Singh scored the goal off a penalty corner. Singh who had a double hat trick against Poland increased his tournament tally to 15 goals with that goal. Soon after the second half India scored a third goal through Tushar Handker. India doubled their tally in the second half with Tushar scoring a hat trick as the visitors led 4-0. Pakistani fightback However, Pakistan fought back scoring two goals in the space of a few minutes. The first through a penalty corner conversion by Imran Warsi. Pakistan fought hard but it was all over after Sandeep Singh made it 5-2. Its India's first Asia cup win and it definitely means that they will be the favourites to defend their title at the Junior World Cup in Holland next year.
