New Delhi:
In the last two months travelling to and from Pakistan has become as easy as moving around in the country, all thanks to cricket and the goodwill series. But the Indian junior hockey team is anxious about its trip to Pakistan later this month for the Asia Cup. Almost immediately after the current cricket series ends in Pakistan the Indian junior hockey team will travel across the border to Karachi for the Junior Asia Cup. The team is currently preparing hard for the tournament, which they have never won. The pressure on the team therefore is immense but coupled with that is the fear of playing in Pakistan. "There was an incident when the Indian team had gone to Karachi for a match and it was a decisive one and the crowd became unruly and threw stones at senior players like Dhanraj and Mukesh," said Harinder Singh, Coach, Junior Hockey team. Tough play Most of the players in the current team have never played in Pakistan before, a fact that coach Harinder Singh keeps in mind while giving the team tips on how to play as well as enriching them with his experience. He is aware that to win in Karachi, the team would have to put in a lot more effort than anywhere else. The team will be leaving for Karachi on April 17 and is optimistic that this time they will come home with the trophy.Topics mentioned in this article
