Hamburg:
Germany defeated Pakistan 3-2 with an injury time penalty to win the Hamburg Masters men's field hockey tournament. Argentina took third place following a 5-5 draw with South Korea, which finished last in the four-nation competition. It was Germany's third win over Pakistan in a week, having won 3-1 and 2-1 in test matches in Berlin last Sunday and Monday. Germany overcame a 2-1 deficit in the second half with two goals, including the stoppage-time penalty corner conversion by skipper Florian Kunz. Christoph Bechmann converted an early penalty stroke for Germany but Nadeem Mohammed clawed Pakistan back into the match with a field goal in the last seconds of the first half to set up the second half struggle. Pakistan took an early 2-1 lead with Sohail Abbas' penalty stroke conversion. Pakistan attacked to increase its lead, and Kashif Jawad spurned four scoring chances. The attacking strategy exposed Pakistan's defence, and two-time German Olympian Michael Green made the critical pass to Bjorn Emmerling in the circle for him to shoot high into the net for the equaliser with eight minutes left on the clock.
