Chandigarh:When the Indian hockey team leaves for Pakistan on September 25 it will be a more or less new look team. The older, more experienced players have had to make way for a younger lot. Senior players like Gagan Ajit Singh, Dhanraj Pillay, Baljit Singh Dhillon, Deepak Thakur and William Xalco have been dropped from the squad. "Gagan has said he's not available, Dhanraj is playing in the Malaysian League, Deepak is not physically fit and Prabhjot has been dropped because of his poor performance," said K P S Gill, President, IHF. India and Pakistan will play eight matches between September and October 10 and the Federation is hoping that this series will help Indian Hockey regain its lost glory. "Our penalty corner conversion rate at the Olympics was very high so there's nothing to be pessimistic about," said Gill. The 24 probables will be attending a camp from September 12 in Chandigarh before leaving for Pakistan.
