Chennai:
"I hope the authorities will provide all necessary things for the team from tomorrow as promised, since they are preparing for an all important berth for the Beijing Olympics," said Joaquim Carvalho, team's Chief Coach.
On Monday, the team confined itself to some physical exercises and 'skills work.'
Carvalho said SAI authorities last month had not provided water for the Astroturf for the first two days when the Developmental team (hockey) had its camp.
"They were aware that the camp is starting today. But whenever we speak about lack of facilities, we are looked down by the officials."
He said 34 of the 40 selected boys have reported for the camp.
"From November 15, the campers will be pruned to 30 and will be in the camp for a month. The final camp will be organised at venues where the Premier Hockey League (PHL) is to be held," said Carvalho.
The PHL is scheduled to be held from December 15 to January 15, 2008, while the final camp will be organised from January 10 to 22.
Stating that he had picked 12 boys from Under-21, he said that the future of Indian hockey rests with these boys. "I will work with them and they will learn a lot playing along with the seniors."
Before leaving for the qualifier at Santiago, the team would play few matches with the Australian team or against the USA, he added.
