Day 1 of the 3rd Test at WACA was completely dominated by Australia as India struggled in all forms of the game. A look at proceedings on Friday in terms of numbers.
# India (161) have recorded their second lowest total at WACA, Perth - the lowest being 141 in February 1992.
# India have played four specialist pacers in the playing XI after twenty years - Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Vinay Kumar. The last instance being when Kapil Dev, Manoj Prabhakar, Subroto Banerjee & Javagal Srinath played against Australia at SCG in January 1992. Interestingly, the said game was
Banerjee's only Test match.
# Virender Sehwag has recorded his third duck against Australia - one each at Brisbane (December 2003), Bangalore (October 2004) and Perth (January 2012).
# Sehwag's tenth duck in 88 innings away from home is his second in 19 innings in Australia.
# Overall, Sehwag has recorded his 15th duck in Tests - 14 as an opener and one as number seven batsman. Sehwag has equalled Pankaj Roy's unwanted feat of 14 ducks as an opener. Both share an Indian record for most ducks as an opener.
# Sehwag is averaging 21.60 in the present series - 108 runs in five innings, including a fifty - 67 at MCG. In his last four innings, he has made 7, 30, 4 & 0.
# Sehwag has averaged 29.53 in seven Tests last year and 11.33 in two Tests in 2012.
# Rahul Dravid (9) has scored just two fifties in his last fifteen innings against Australia - 77 at Mohali in October 2010 and 68 at Melbourne in December 2011.
# Dravid is averaging less than 40 in Tests against two major opponents - 39.49 against Australia and 33.83 against South Africa.
# In the present series against Australia, Dravid is averaging 24.20 - 121 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 33.89.
# Dravid, with his 53rd dismissal as 'bowled' has emulated Allan Border's unwanted record. Both share a record for most 'bowled' dismissals.

# The break-up of Dravid's 251 dismissals in Tests is - Caught (150), Bowled (53), LBW (34), Run-out (13) and Stumped (1).

# Tendulkar has extended his Test record for being dismissed LBW 58 times.
# Tendulkar became the first Indian player to play three Tests at Perth. His aggregate of 218 in five innings at an average of 43.60 is the highest by an Indian at this venue.

# The previous highest opening wicket for Australia against India at Perth was just 27 between Wayne Phillips and Mark Taylor in February 1992.
# David Warner (104 not out) has recorded his highest innings in the present series.
# Warner's outstanding knock is his second hundred in Tests - his career-best being 123 not out against New Zealand at Hobart last month.
# Warner'a 69-ball hundred is the fastest by an opener in Tests - the fourth-joint fastest in Test annals, next only to the West Indian, Vivian Richards (56 balls against England at St.John's in 1985-86), Australia's Adam Gilchrist (57 balls against England at Perth in 2006-07), Jack Gregory (67 balls against South Africa at Johannesburg in 1921-22). West Indian, Shivnarine Chanderpaul had recorded a 69-ball century against Australia at Georgetown in 2002-03.
