New Delhi: An all-round performance from England in Test matches played this year, has been the reason for the team's current dominance against India and it's assault on the number one spot. With four English batsmen and three bowlers in the top-seven lists of scorers and wicket-takers of the year respectively, the team has the fire-power to carry on with their winning momentum.
Of the seven Tests played in 2011 (till August 10), England have won four and are yet to concede. That the victories have come against formidable opponents like Australia, Sri Lanka and India, further emphasizes the high standard of cricket that is on show for the Barmy Army.
The men who have been powering England's meteoric rise are Ian Bell and Alastair Cook who dominate the overall list of scorers with 681 runs from 9 and 626 from 10 innings receptively. India's Rahul Dravid is third with 571 runs from 13 innings at an average of 51.90. The Wall is followed by two English players again - Matt Prior and Kevin Pietersen.
