In the first innings, George Bailey (98) shared an enterprising record 136-ball 153-run stand for the fifth wicket with the dangerous Glenn Maxwell (92) as Australia posted 295/8. Rain brought a stop to proceedings with India at 27/0 in 4.1 overs.

MS Dhoni: Shami Ahmed was excellent, he hit the lengths well. Suresh Raina did well with the ball, but I'm sure our catching will improve. It's disappointing not to play a full game, but we can't control the weather.
