Decision to pick four openers in India squad surprises W V Raman

Bengal coach has expressed his surprise at the picking of four openers by the selectors in the Indian squad for the Test series against England starting on November 15.

Kolkata: The decision of the Indian selectors to pick four openers in the squad for the first two Tests against touring England has surprised Bengal coach W V Raman.

"I'm surprised to see four openers in the side. I'm not sure whether Ajinkya Rahane has been picked as a reserve middle-order batsman," Raman told reporters here on Monday.

Indian squad for the Ahmedabad and Mumbai Test boasts of four opening batsmen in Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Murali Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane.
