Sachin Tendulkar's farewell Test match is seeing a record of sorts - the quantum of money waged on a single cricketer's performance. According to reports, more than Rs 2000 crore are at stake on the Master Blaster, who will bow out of international cricket at the end of his 200th Test match at the Wankhede Stadium from November 14. While the police plans to keep a hawk's eye on illegal activities, online betting site like Ladbrokes and William Hill are also riding high on the frenzy around Tendulkar's swansong.
Given Tendulkar's current Test form -- he has not scored a Test hundred since January 2011 and has just two fifties (76 against England at Kolkata in December 2012 and 81 versus Australia in Chennai in February 2013) in his last 20 Test innings - bets are being placed on almost every aspect on Tendulkar's performance like scoring a century, a 50, a duck or even the nature of his dismissal. Tendulkar was out for 10 at the Eden Gardens last week following a controversial LWB decision. ÂÂ
According to paddypower.com, the odds on Tendulkar not scoring a century in Mumbai are 1/7. Ladbrokes is 7/2 for Tendulkar scoring a ton, which will be his 52nd in Tests. William Hill has 100 for Tendulkar scoring a triple century and Winner has him at 200 for bagging a hat-trick! It's 10/1 for a zero and 5/1 to be out LBW.
