IPL: Jacques Kallis says it will be painful to part ways with Kolkata Knight Riders

The burly all-rounder has not been in the best of form in IPL this season. He has even pulled out of Champions Trophy in UK next month saying a player with better form should get a chance to play for South Africa.

Jacques Kallis is keen to play the Indian Premier League next season, but not sure whether he will be able to play for Kolkata Knight Riders once more. With all players going back to the auction pool in 2014, the South African all-rounder will be up for grabs.

He may not have been in the best of form this season, but Kallis remains an automatic choice for any captain in the IPL. KKR captain Gautam Gambhir acknowledges the worth of this versatile 37-year-old from Cape Town saying: "If he fails with the bat, he will come good with the ball. He can do both things very well."

Kallis has played the IPL ever since its inception in 2008. He joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore and almost won the Orange Cap (for the season's highest run getter) in 2010. Kallis was bought by KKR in 2011 and played a stellar role last year -- 403 runs and 15 wickets -- when Kolkata won the IPL crown for the first time.
