Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Friday announced that the state government will honour Shreyasi Singh, who won a silver medal in recent Commonwealth Games shooting competition, with an award of Rs 11 lakh.

Speaking at 'Khel Samman 2014' organised in the state capital to honour sportspersons, Manjhi praised Singh, who hails from Bihar, and said she has done the state proud and the award will be just a symbol of recognising her talent, hard work and achievement.

"We want Bihar and its players to excel in sports. Our population is around 11.5 crore but the achievements are not in that proportion. The state has progressed but we need to do much. We have to provide nutritious diet to our sportspersons. We need to have dynamism and transparency in our work," said Manjhi.
