Istanbul:
The top-seeded Russian will meet Aravane Rezai of France in the semifinals of the last warmup tournament before the French Open.
"I'm happy for seeing my shoulders are healthy," said Sharapova, who missed two tournaments this year with a right-shoulder injury. "It's good for me to play tough matches like this."
Rezai rallied to beat Meghann Shaughnessy of the United States 1-6, 6-1, 6-4.
The 62nd-ranked Rezai, who ousted Venus Williams in the second round, is seeking her first WTA Tour title.
Dementieva advances
Elena Dementieva also rallied to beat Catalina Castano 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the clay-court championship.
The second-seeded Russian plays fifth-seeded Alona Bondarenko of Ukraine in the semifinals.
"It was a long match," Dementieva said after beating the Colombian in 2 hours, 34 minutes. "I'm glad I survived against her today."
Schnyder withdraws
Patty Schnyder of Switzerland withdrew from her quarterfinal against Bondarenko because of a thigh injury, cutting short her tuneup before the French Open.
Schnyder announced her decision just minutes ahead of her scheduled match, sending the Ukrainian through to the semifinals.
Schnyder said she has suffered from pain in her right quadriceps since an earlier round of the tournament.
"I need some rest," Schnyder told reporters. "I don't want to force it."
The third-seeded player said she would play in the French Open which starts on Sunday.
