Auckland:
New Zealand took a winning 3-0 lead in its Asia Oceania Davis Cup tennis tie with Lebanon on Saturday. Mark Nielsen and Dan King-Turner combined to beat Karim Alayli and Patrick Chucri 6-2, 6-3, 6-1 in doubles. The teamwork of the New Zealand pair, sharpened in recent ties against Korea and Kuwait, was too much for the Lebanon combination who conceded the rubber and tie in a little more than 90 minutes. New Zealand's game was better adapted to the slick hardcourts of the North Harbour Tennis Center and they were able to dominate on serve and at the net. New Zealand went into the match with a 2-0 lead forged in singles Friday. Nielsen beat Alayli 6-2, 6-1, 6-2 and King-Turner beat Chucri, the Lebanon No.1, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1. The reverse singles will be played on Sunday. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
