New York:
Fifth-seeded Tim Henman of Britain continued his run at the US Open on Friday, easily beating qualifier Dick Norman of Belgium 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 in the second round. Henman, who lost just three games in the first round while beating qualifier Tuomas Ketola of Finland, has been nursing a shoulder injury that forced him out of a tournament in Indianapolis earlier this month. The world No. 5 had little trouble Friday against Norman, who won his first Grand Slam match in five years against Bohdan Ulihrach in the first round. Norman, who played just his second match ever at the US Open, last won a Grand Slam match at the French Open in 1997. Henman, who owns the top pure serve-and-volley game on tour, broke Norman once in the first, twice in the second and twice in the third. Norman broke Henman once in the second and once in the third. Henman, who reached the fourth round here in 1998 and 1996, won his ninth career title earlier this year in Adelaide, Australia. He has reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon four of the last five years. The Briton also reached the fourth round at the Australian Open earlier this year. At the French, he was ousted in the second round. Norman has won three titles this year on the challenger circuit but is just 1-4 at the top level. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
