Indian Wells: Number nine seed Tim Henman moved into the last eight of the Tennis Masters Series event at Indian Wells, California on Wednesday, with a comprehensive 6-1, 6-3 victory over Wayne Arthus of Australia. The British number one will now face the U.S. Open champion Andy Roddick for a place in the last four. In an all-American quarter final in the same half of the draw, James Blake overcame Taylor Dent in just over two hours and will now take on Irakli Labadze of Georgia, who overcame Argentina's Agustin Calleri in three sets. The soaring temperatures were back on centre court at Indian Wells on Wednesday for the fourth round matches in the Masters Series event and the eagerly-awaited encounter between unseeded Americans James Blake and Taylor Dent at times reached boiling point. The first set went to a tiebreak, and Dent used his big serve to good effect in taking the first mini-break, but Blake levelled from an impossibly acute angle and then took the set by 7 points to four. Dent rallied and won the second set with some typical serve-and-volley points. Little wonder that Dent's only victory over Blake in three attempts going into this match was on grass. But Dent couldn't keep it going and after two hours and two minutes, Blake was presented with the easiest of passing shots and took the match 7-6 (4) 4-6, 6-1. Blake will now meet Irakli Labadze for a place in the semis. Also involved in fourth round action was Britain's Tim Henman, who wasted little time in getting to grips with Australia Wayne Arthurs. The Briton won the first set 6-1 and showed some of the form that made him the only man to have beaten Federer this season. Henman, the number nine seed, had a 2-0 advantage going into this match and by the time Arturs lost his serve in the second set, the writing was on the wall. Henman closed out the match to win 6-1, 6-3 and will now meet Andy Roddick in the last eight. (AP)
