Guillermo Canas cruised to his third ATP title of the year thanks to Sunday's 6-1, 6-0 thrashing of the unseeded Lars Burgsmuller at the Shanghai Open. Burgsmuller held serve in the first game, but that was his sole success on the hardcourt at the Xian Xia Tennis Centre, going down in just 58 minutes. Unheralded and unseeded, the German had no answer to Canas' brilliance. After missing most of the 2003 season through injury that required surgery, and ending the year ranked a lowly 133rd in the world, the Argentine seems determined to make up for all that lost time. He appears to have regained the form that led him to Top 15 finishes in 2001 and 2002. The Argentine had won 17 of his last 18 matches - including finals victories at Stuttgart and Umag - with the only loss coming to Andy Roddick in the US Open third round.Topics mentioned in this article
