Barcelona: Rafael Nadal had successful surgery to remove his appendix on Monday and will remain in the hospital for up to two days to recover. Nadal is now hoping of a comeback in January. He will not play in 2014 again.
"If I play the last two tournaments, I would not be competitive and would have no chance to win. It is better for me to recover. I hope to be back at the start of 2015 ready for anything," Nadal said.
A statement from Nadal's spokesman said the appendectomy was performed at the TEKNON Medical Center in Barcelona by Dr Segura Movellan and his team.
