New Delhi:
Bhupathi, who struggled with a calf injury at Roland Garros which forced him to pull out of the mixed doubles' semifinals, has 2785 points.
On the other hand, Leander Paes, who made a third-round exit in the doubles' event of the clay court grand slam, moved up one spot to 23rd with 1995 points.
Paes and Bhupathi will play together in a grass court event in Holland this month as part of their preparation for the Beijing Olympics.
The warring duo agreed to pair for the quadrennial extravaganza only after a round of peace talks brokered by the All India Tennis Association during the French open.
Meanwhile, in the WTA charts, Sania Mirza, who missed the French Open due to a wrist injury, was down a rung to 33 in the latest singles rankings.
Sania, who has returned to action this week, has 857 points.
At the top of the list, French open champion Serbian Ana Ivanovic displaced Russian Maria Sharapova as the new number one.
Ivanovic's compatriot Jelena Jankovic retained her third spot, while Russians Svetlana Kuznetsova and Elena Dementieva completed the top five at the fourth and fifth position respectively.
