Boppanna-Qureshi out, Mankad-Singh in

India's challenge at the Indianapolis Tennis Championships came to a dismal end when Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul Haq Quereshi of Pakistan pulled out of the their quarterfinal match as the former retired with a back problem.

The India-Pakistan pair trailed against American-Australian combine Tripp Phillips and Ashley Fisher when they conceded the match here Thursday.

Fisher-Phillips air now face Americans Rajeev Ram and Bobby Reynolds who beat second- seeded Czech pair Martin Damm and Pavel Vizner 6-3, 7-6 (4).

In Manchester, Harsh Mankad and Ashutosh Singh breezed into the semi-finals of the LTA Manchester Trophy Challenger, outplaying Czech pair Pavel Snobel and Jan Vacek, 6-1, 6-1.

The fourth seeded Indian pair didn't encounter any resistance from the Czech opponents and they registered a comfortable win at the grass court event here Thursday.

Mankad-Ashutosh next meet second seeded British-Swede combine Joshua Goodall Michael Ryderstedt who beat British pair Christopher Hooshyar and Seb Jackson 7-5, 7-6 (3).

However, the other Indian in the fray Purav Raja and his Japanese partner Gouichi Motomura lost their quarter-final match in super tie-break to top-seeded Australian pair Adam Feeney and Robert Smeets 6-4, 2-6, 6-10.

Feeney and Smeets next meet third-seeded British combine Richard Bloomfield and Ken Skupski who beat another British pair Ian Flanagan and Jonathan Marray 6-4,6-4.
