Cincinnati:
The sixth seeded Indo-Czech pair fought tooth and nail before plunging to a 6-7 (6) 6-7 (5) defeat against the second seeded pair of Daniel Nestor of Canada and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia in the quarterfinals in a one and a half-hour battle.
Both the pairs were engaged in an engrossing battle, not willing to concede even an inch. The first set floated five breakpoints -- two for Paes and Dlouhy, three for their opponents-- but both the pairs were successful in saving them.
In the second set, both the pairs dropped their serve once before the tie-breaker in which the second seeds prevailed to advance to the next stage.
Now, Mahesh Bhupthi will take forward the Indian challenge along with Mark Knowles, who earned a hard fought win to advance to the semifinals.
Bhupathi and his Bahamian partner prevailed over American wildcards Mardy Fish and John Isner 7-5 6-7(5) 12-10 in the quarterfinal, on Friday.
They now face off against top seeded Bryan bothers of America.
