The third Ashes Test, which has seen the International Cricket Council (ICC) trial an independent television feed with the aim of improving its controversial Decision Review System, has controversy striking it yet again.
Barely two hours into the Old Trafford Test between England and Australia, Usman Khawaja was given out in shocking circumstances. The left-hand Aussie batsman was given caught behind by on-field umpire Tony Hill off the last delivery of the 23rd over by Graeme Swann.
Confident Khawaja took an immediate review as the matter now rested in third umpire Kumar Dharmasena's hands. Hot-spot, sound review and replays from all angles ensued. None showed anything that suggested Khawaja be given out. Dharmasena did the unthinkable though to given England a lucky break.
