The Ashes: Michael Clarke's 24th ton rockets him to world No.2

The Australia skipper scored 187 in the drawn third Test at Old Trafford to be adjudged Man of the Match.

Australia skipper Michael Clarke has gained three positions to jump to number two in the latest ICC Test rankings, which is headed by South Africa's Hashim Amla.

Clarke scored a splendid 187 in the drawn third Test against England at the Old Trafford to win the Man of the Match award. His 24th Test century brought Australia close to winning the third Test before rain came to England's rescue as the hosts secured a draw to retain the Ashes.

Australia may have lost all chances of reclaiming the Ashes, but for Clarke the Old Trafford Test provided significant numbers which he can use to inspire his teammates.
