The impressive return of left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha, who took a six-wicket haul in the first innings of the first Test against the West Indies, may have surprised many but not his father, Maheswar.
"After being out of national reckoning for about one year, Pragyan was waiting for an opportunity to prove his mettle," a beaming Maheswar told reporters after his son grabbed a career-best six-wicket haul in the first innings of the ongoing match in Delhi.
"We hope he will repeat similar feat in the future as well. He was, a bit, under pressure after being overlooked. I had advised him not to dishearten and wait for the right opportunity. When the opportunity comes, utilise it properly", he said.
Pragyan's last Test appearance was against New Zealand at Nagpur in November 2010. After being out of the reckoning for national duty, he went for a stint with Surrey in the English county cricket.
Meanwhile, ecstasy pervaded the frenzied fans who were glued to the TV as the local-lad finished off the visitor's innings with aplomb.
Cricket fans burst crackers amidst unabated clapping to celebrate Ojha's maiden six wicket haul that restricted the Caribbean team to 304 in their first innings.
