Melbourne: India paceman Ashish Nehra will undergo surgery in Melbourne, Australia on Thursday for his injured finger. It is learnt that the surgery, conducted by Dr Gregory Hoy, will take place at Avenue Hospital, Windsor, Victoria.
The left-arm paceman fractured a finger on his right hand during the World Cup semi-final game against Pakistan last week. The injury ruled him out of the final against Sri Lanka. S Sreesanth took his place but flopped at the Wankhede Stadium.
Nehra (32) injured his finger while attempting a catch at deep mid-wicket to dismiss Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, who played a pull shot off spinner Yuvraj Singh. As it turned out, the ball fell in front of him and the decision didn't go India's way. The Indians eventually won the game in Mohali.
