India spinner Harbhajan Singh is set to embark on a career in film production and will announce the details of his first couple of films on May 3, according to a report in a national daily.
"Bhajji is clear that he wants to back entertainers. The first two films will feature known stars from Bollywood," a source said.
The source revealed that Harbhajan and his cricketer friend Chandan Madaan also aim at promoting new comers into the industry.
"They are talking to established names from films and the advertising world. Later this year, they are also expecting to start a couple of movies with newcomers, as the company wants to launch and promote new talent," the source added.
His company's CEO, Avinnash Nanda may have refused to reveal the plans but Harbhajan had earlier said in January that his first two films will be comedies.
"I am in talks with the leading actors in Bollywood and the Punjabi film industry. I have also finalised the directors for the two movies I am going to produce. The movies will be comedies and will entertain audiences in India and abroad," Harbhajan had said in an event in Chandigarh on January 29.
The launch date, May 3, is likely to be attended by Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Mukesh Ambani and some top politicians.
Harbhajan's model friend Geeta Basra was tight lipped when asked if she would be part of any of Bhajji's projects.
"I am glad to know that Bhajji is getting into film production. It's too early to tell if I will be a part of those projects. You should ask him that," she said.
However, when the news first came earlier this year, the 32-year-old cricketer had made it clear that his first love is cricket and he will not act in any of his films.
"Cricket is my passion, it is my first love. So I will not act in my movies as they will just be a side business for me," Turbanator said.
